It Was Bound To Happen...I Suppose...

Adam was having a really good run there for a while, but now has come down with the dreaded infection. Two days ago, he developed a fever and results from several different blood cultures have come back positive for Strep and Staph infections. This, unfortunately, is terribly common in neutropenic kids. He is receiving intensive antibiotic treatments to keep everything under control until his counts can recover and take care of the rest of those darn bugs. So far, there is no indication that his counts are on their way back. Today marks day nine at zero. During Round Five of last year, we spent 12 days at zero. So, we most likely have a few more days before we see some action in his counts. All in all, Adam seems to be in good spirits.

Janna, I'm fasting for Adam today. And we went to a children's leukemia research fundraiser on Friday. Thinking and praying for you guys.

We appreciate this website. We pray that Adam's counts will rebound quickly. We wish we could visit, but our house has been host to a pesky virus. Know that you are in our thoughts always. Call me if anyone makes it back home to Leesburg. We have something for you.

I think of you every single day, and pray for you constantly. I can imagine just how hard this must be, and I'm sure it's even more difficult that I imagine! May you receive strength from on high, and know of our love for you!

Sorry to hear about the infections. No fun! We pray he gets better soon. Darby's counts are down, too, and I really hate the "waiting game". Best wishes!
